August 2 - Roughly 24 hours after saying he found it "disheartening" to watch other American League contenders complete trades that bolstered their rosters, Houston Astros manager Dusty Baker experienced a change of heart on Tuesday. The Astros will aim for a three-game series sweep on Wednesday afternoon. Prior to Valdez's gem in the Astros' 2-0 victory over the Guardians, Houston reacquired right-hander Justin Verlander from the New York Mets in a deal that sent out a pair of outfield prospects. "When you're going to acquire someone like a Justin Verlander, you're going to have to give up something," Astros general manager Dana Brown said. He's done a good job throughout his entire career, so at the end of the day, you're going to have to give up some players to get good players."

CNN —Philadelphia had waited 4,746 days to host a World Series game and it was forced to wait another day when Monday night’s game was postponed due to rain. But its patience was rewarded on Tuesday as the Philadelphia Phillies took a 2-1 lead in the World Series, using the long ball to power their way to a 7-0 win against the Houston Astros in Game 3. “It was kind of mind-boggling because he doesn’t give up homers,” Astros coach Dusty Baker said afterwards. John Geliebter-USA TODAY SportsOct 31 (Reuters) - Game Three of the World Series between the host Philadelphia Phillies and Houston Astros originally scheduled for Monday was postponed due to inclement weather and a forecast for sustained rainfall throughout the evening. The Astros were set to send right-handed pitcher Lance McCullers Jr. to the mound for Monday's game while the Phillies were going to counter with right-hander Noah Syndergaard. Phillies left-hander Ranger Suarez will now start Tuesday's contest while the Astros will stick with McCullers as their Game Three starter. A potential Game Six would be played on Saturday -- which would make it the latest World Series game in terms of date -- with a decisive Game Seven, if necessary, set for Sunday.

Oct 30 (Reuters) - Houston Astros pitcher Lance McCullers Jr. will make his long-awaited return to the World Series stage after missing last year's Fall Classic with a forearm injury that left him in an even more stressful role as a spectator. "There's always more nerves when you're watching, especially from the dugout," McCullers told reporters on Saturday after the Astros beat the Phillies 5-2. "I think about some of the big games we've played in this park and the World Series, things like that. It's always way more, I'm always way more nervous in the dugout than when I'm outside of it." I think it's when you get to experience the most raw and real atmospheres in all the game," said McCullers.
